   Nunca é tarde para falar de alguém que se dedica aos necessitados e faz de sua vida pessoal um exemplo que poucos estariam dispostos a seguir.

   "Never is too late to talk about someone who spend his life to help needy people and makes his life an example that few would be willing to follow."

   Zilda é mais conhecida por causa da criação da Pastoral da Criança (ligada a igreja católica) que, desde que foi criada em 1983, já acompanhou 1 816 261 crianças menores de 6 anos e 1 407 743 famílias pobres em 4060 municípios brasileiros. Neste período, mais de 261 962 voluntários levaram solidariedade e conhecimento sobre saúde, nutrição, educação e cidadania para as comunidades mais pobres, criando condições para que elas se tornem protagonistas de sua própria transformação social.

  "Zilda is best known for the creation of the Pastoral of the Child (linked to the Catholic Church) which, since it was created in 1983, was followed 1 816 261 children under 6 years and 1 407 743 households in 4060 municipalities. During this period, more than 261 962 volunteers took solidarity and knowledge about health, nutrition, education and citizenship for the poorest communities, creating conditions so that they become protagonists of their own social transformation."

   Em 2004 fundou e coordenou a Pastoral da Pessoa Idosa, e desde então mais de 100 mil idosos são acompanhados por 12 mil funcionários em 579 municípios no Brasil.

  "In 2004 she founded and coordinated the “Pastoral da Pessoa Idosa” (Care of the Elderly), and since then more than 100 thousand elderly are accompanied by 12 thousand employees in 579 municipalities in Brazil."

   Mas, com 75 anos de vida, poderia muito bem aposentar-se ou ao menos gerenciar todos estes trabalhos de traz de uma mesa, num escritório com ar condicionado. Mas não.

    But with 75 years of life, might as well retire or at least manage all this work behind a desk in an office with air conditioning. But no.

   O que a torna uma abnegada é justamente o envolvimento pessoal com a causa, e sua morte, apesar de nos causar muita tristeza e comoção, também nos traz muita reflexão e a certeza de que sua missão aqui na terra foi cumprida e que Deus lhe receberá de braços abertos.

    "What turn her a selfless woman is just the personal involvement with the cause, and her death, although the cause of great sadness among brazilian people and shock, also brings a lot of thinking and turn clear that her mission here on earth was fulfilled and that God will receive her with open arms."

   Ela não recebeu o Nobel da Paz, apesar de indicada, mas não importa... Ghandi também não recebeu. O premio é pequeno diante de sua grandeza espiritual.

   "She did’t receive the Nobel Peace Prize, although indicated, but no matter ... Gandhi also did not receive. The prize is small in front of her spiritual greatness."
